Privacy policy
Last updated: August 31, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Strumbook ("Strumbook", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use our website and application (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
Information we collect
Account information. When you sign in with Google, we receive basic profile information such as your name, email address, and profile picture, which we use to identify your account and personalize the Service.
Your library and content. Strumbook connects to your own Google Drive or Dropbox account with your permission. Your songs, artwork, setlists, and related files are stored in your own cloud storage, not in a Strumbook-owned database. We access these files only as needed to provide the Service (for example, to display your library or save your edits).
Usage data. We may automatically collect limited technical information, such as device type, browser type, pages visited, and general usage patterns, to help us maintain and improve the Service.
Cookies and local storage. We use cookies and similar technologies (such as browser local storage) to keep you signed in, remember your preferences (like light or dark mode), and support core functionality of the Service.
How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the Service;
- Authenticate you and keep your account secure;
- Sync and display your library, setlists, and other content you store in your connected cloud storage;
- Respond to your comments, questions, and support requests;
- Monitor and analyze usage and trends to improve the Service; and
- Detect, prevent, and address technical issues, fraud, or abuse.
How we share your information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information only in the following circumstances:
- Service providers. With third-party vendors who perform services on our behalf (such as authentication, hosting, and analytics providers), bound by obligations to protect your information.
- Your connected storage. With Google Drive or Dropbox, as directed by you, so the Service can read and write files in your connected account.
- Legal requirements. If required to do so by law, or in response to valid requests by public authorities.
- Business transfers. In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this policy's protections.
Data retention
We retain account information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. Your songs, setlists, and other library content remain in your own cloud storage and are retained according to your settings with that provider. You may delete your account at any time, and we will delete the account information we hold, except where we are required to retain it to comply with legal obligations.
Data security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
Your choices and rights
You can review and revoke Strumbook's access to your Google Drive or Dropbox account at any time through that provider's account permissions settings. Depending on your location, you may also have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information. To exercise these rights, contact us using the information below.
Children's privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date above. You are advised to review this policy periodically for any changes.
